Surprise! I’m Pregnant!
Huge News: We're Expecting a Little Girl in Mid-December!
That’s right! I’m preggo! I am thrilled ( and a little bit nervous ) to announce that my family is officially growing and that we are due to welcome a baby GIRL in December. The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of emotions, excitement, and let’s be real…. a lot of tears ( because being pregnant with a toddler is exhausting ), but I am beyond excited to finally be sharing this news with you all!
As many of you know, our path to parenthood was not an easy one. When we decided to expand our family, we were blindsided by an unexplained infertility diagnosis. This road lead us through many infertility treatments and ultimately led us to IVF. The journey to conceive our son was long and filled with a mix of all the emotions. Some days were filled with hope and most days filled with heartbreak. Ultimately though, our dreams came true and we finally welcomed our son home.
Our hardships were not over when we got pregnant with Lucas. During my delivery of my son, I experienced a severe hemorrhage that resulted in a blood transfusion and emergency surgery to remove my placenta. While both Lucas and me were ultimately okay, I was left with a lot of trauma from the experience.
The decision to try for another child was not a simple one and was clouded by the anxieties of starting IVF and the trauma of delivering my son. We knew that IVF would be a continued part of our story and we chose to work with the amazing team at Acacio Fertility Center once again. Their support and expertise have been invaluable, guiding us through each step with care and compassion and we were blessed to have a successful transfer after the first try.
Let’s also not forget that early pregnancy with a two year old and a small business is not for the faint of heart. I was struck with pretty extreme fatigue, but thankfully I learned my lesson the first time around and chose to focus on rest. I took some time off work and listened to my body.
Now that I am out of the first trimester, I am feeling a bit more energy and am feeling excited about the realities of another baby in the family. I am focusing on the joy and anticipation of meeting our little girl and experiencing the whirlwind of early motherhood once more. Each day, I remind myself of the strength and resilience that brought us here, and I find comfort in the love and support that surrounds us.
To celebrate, we had a special pregnancy announcement photoshoot with my good friend and wildly talented photographer, Chelsea from Turner Acre Photo. When you are both tired moms, you do what is easiest for photos, so we opted to keep it simple and take photos in her backyard. Chelsea's backyard provided the perfect rustic-themed setting, complete with her chickens so that Paul could live out his dream of being a chicken dad. It was a day filled with laughter, love, and lots of special moments.
We hung tiny baby girl clothes on a clothesline, looked at ultrasound pictures, and even played the ukulele together. ( A favorite of ours). These photos captured the essence of our happiness, anticipation, and maybe some of the chaos of our lives and I am so grateful to Chelsea for her incredible talent and friendship.
As we prepare to welcome our baby girl, I am filled with a mix of emotions. The journey to this point has been long and challenging, but also incredibly rewarding. I look forward to sharing more of our journey with you. Thank you for being part of our story and for your continued support of this small business of mine. Every time you pay me for a photoshoot, you are doing so much more than helping pay my bills. You are helping make our dreams come true ( because y’all, IVF aint cheap )
We can't wait to introduce our little girl to the world and to all of you. Stay tuned for more updates and photos as we get closer to our due date.
